Monitor calibration and gamma

(A print test image from http://www.digitaldog.net/files/Printer_Test_file.jpg.zip)

A properly calibrated monitor is essential for making prints that match the monitor image; it is an absolute necessity for success in the digital darkroom.

  1. Check out the Norman Koren website on monitor calibration and gamma setting methods & procedures.
  2. Go to this website to download QuickGamma free software to calibrate your monitor gamma. It is a small utility program to calibrate a monitor on the fly without having to buy expensive hardware tools
  3. Get QuickMonitorProfile is a tool to create ICC / ICM monitor profiles to be used for color management

Photography - Start with your children photo

This is my daughter, Amalia when she was 4 I think. I like this photo because seeing our small children happy makes us happy too. Yeah, small children, I didn't say teenagers, did I?

One challenge with children photography is photographer cannot control them. When she realize I wanted to took her photo, she started to move, acted not the way I wanted etc. Guess, after all, we still enjoy those unplanned moments too. So, I normally keep shooting, hoping some of the photos turn out nice and natural.

Photoshop Tutorials

I use Picasa & Photoshop CS3 to edit my photos. For basic simple touch up, I use Picasa. But, for better photography editing, I use Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photosop for advance photography editing. I find this website useful to get some Photoshop tutorials.

Photographing Flowers.....

(Sony A100 w Kit Lens)

This flower is not real btw. But, with photography, of course with good techniques you can make the flower look real.... I think the flash was bounced up. With a bit of color correction.. this is the result... not bad la....
